Between the Julian and Karavanke Alps lies the old town centre of Radovljica, which is one of the best preserved town structures in Slovenia. The charming town enthralls with its position set atop a natural promontory and boasts varied and pristine architecture, culinary offerings, museums, galleries and numerous events in the heart of the old town.

The town of Begunje na Gorenjskem lies on the sunny Radovljica plains beneath the ridges of the Karavanke Alps. The town is the birth place of the renowned musician Slavko Avsenik and the home of Slovene popular folk music. Kamen Castle, the Katzenstein Mansion and the Avsenik Museum are also located here. The nearby village of Brezje, with its Church of the Virgin Mary, is the largest pilgrimage centre in Slovenia.

The village of Kropa is nestled in the Lipnica valley situated beneath the Jelovica plateau. Kropa is the home of Slovene iron-forging. Its rich history is evident in its heritage-protected centre, the Blacksmith's museum, the preserved forgery and other technical heritage buildings.

Additionally, Radovljica and its surroundings offer numerous walking and cycling paths, excellent home-made cuisine, a golf course, the Lesce sports airfield and a number of annual events, festivals and concerts including the Festival of Chocolate, the Old Music Festival and the Avsenik Music Festival.
